Choosing an Affiliate Program

Choosing an Affiliate Program

Choosing an affiliate program can be as stressful as it is exciting. You always want to make sure that you're spending your time wisely, and developing campaigns for an affiliate program that's new or unfamiliar to you can be an exercise in frustration. Many times you simply have to speculate as to how to best promote an affiliate program's products, as there may be no solid foundation provided for affiliate marketers to base their campaigns on.

If you only have a few hours to spend every night working on affiliate marking part time, then you want to be sure the affiliate program you've chosen will help you maximize the time you're spending. And, of course, if you've chosen to do affiliate marketing as your full-time means of earning income, then choosing the correct affiliate program becomes all the more critical.

Here are a few tips that will help you recognize when an affiliate program is right for you :

1. ) The Commissions they offer are Competitive.

Many times affiliates can earn even more from a sale than the business offering the product! This is often the case when promoting ebooks, which can have commission rates as high as 75% of the total product. You'll want to make sure the affiliate program's product is going to earn you enough to recoup your costs. Avoid products that earn you less than $15 per sale.

2. ) A Good Affiliate Program offers Support.

If your affiliate program does not have any kind of support structure in place to help you be a successful affiliate marketer, you should immediately question how serious they are about making sure affiliates are able to earn income. A professionally run program understands that the more sales affiliates are able to make, the more then affiliate program will earn money for its owners.

3. ) A Wide Range of Resources.

The program managers must make a good selection of tools and other materials available for affiliates to help them along their way. Examples of good resources include keyword lists or keyword generation tools, examples of sales letters or content for affiliates to adapt for their own marketing purposes, and banners and other forms of advertising affiliates can use.

Partnering with a good affiliate program is key to being successful at affiliate marketing. Choose wisely.
