Nowadays, bad news was everywhere. Across the newspapers, TV, radio, internet, blogs, podcast, etc ... All were mentioning the same thing : Recession !
Last week, Singapore officially announced that we were in Recession. Job Loss was expected in near future, ( or even now ) and would dragged into middle of 2009. This was scary ! People without jobs, fresh graduates were about to leave school soon, the whole market would be full of jobless employees waiting to be employed !
I'm not trying to scare anyone out here. I’m trying to get people to start preparing for the worst, at least this is what I'm doing now. I've always told my friends that it's Very Important to have at least another sideline. I called it "The 2nd Income".
The 2nd Income need not earn as much as your full time job, but at least there's something you can rely on when your main income falls.
One of my friends' company recently retrenched 100% of their employees. This move benefited that company, BUT left hundreds, or even thousands of people jobless. They do not expect this, but sometimes, things just happened suddenly !
To All My Friends out here : FIND another source of income if you do not have one, Eg : insurance, property, or Internet Marketing, etc ... At least there are something that you can rely on.
